Thanks to all who attended our book discussion for The Dirty Life. In August, we will be reading My Life in France by Julia Child. If you need a copy of that book, please go to the reference desk near the Park entrance. We’ll be reading The Great Gatsby in September, so look for copies of that book in August!

In June, we will continue our trend of reading sad and emotional fiction titles with Ethan Frome. Copies are available at the Park Reference Desk. July will buck the trend as we dive into our one community, one book program with The Dirty Life: on Farming, Food, and Love by Kristin Kimball.

February’s Discussion is Postponed

Due to inclement weather concerns, I have decided to postpone February’s book discussion from February 2, 2011 to February 9, 2011. We won’t be able to use our usual Crandall Room that night, but the ladies in the Children’s Department were kind enough to let me use their activity room. The room will not be open until 7pm, so we can just find a place to sit and chat in the interim.

Everyone enjoyed the Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. We liked Flavia’s tenacity and her perspicacity. The group also discussed possible upcoming titles. January’s selection is Saratoga: Turning Point in America’s Revolutionary War, and February’s selection is Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.
